Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers orchestrated an impressive second-half comeback against the Chicago Bears in the season opener, but it came at a cost as he suffered a knee injury that nearly took him out of the game.

In the days that have followed, Rodgers has yet to practice as he has been solely participating in rehab work on the side. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the Packers won't know the 34-year-old's status for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings until Saturday.

“Probably the best indicator of whether or not he is going to play is not going to be tomorrow. Most teams practice on Friday and then that's it. The Packers don't do that. They actually practice on Saturday and that is a significant day in their week. So whether or not he gets out there on Saturday is not going to determine where he plays but it will give us a pretty strong idea on if he's able to get out there and do Aaron Rodgers' things.”

This is still a fluid situation that the Packers are working their way through with Rodgers' health as he is dealing with something that is limiting his work on the field. Throughout this process, the 34-year-old has continued to remain quite confident that he will be able to play come Sunday afternoon as he has voiced that he doesn't need practice in order to be able to play.

Rodgers has proven throughout his career that he has the mental fortitude to play through injuries, but this is something that the Packer may choose to take the precautionary approach. Green Bay has much of their Super Bowl hopes on his shoulders, and his loss for any significant time in the season could hurt those chances.

If Rodgers is unable to give it a go, the team will turn to backup DeShone Kizer to take up the spot start. Kizer had struggled in his limited action last Sunday completing 4 of 7 passes for 55 yards with an interception and fumble.
