After sitting out all last week’s organized team activities, Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix remains a no-show during this week’s OTAs, per Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Clinton-Dix has not told the team why he’s sitting out, although his contract situation is most likely his reason for doing so. He’s entering his fifth-year option worth $5.96 million and has yet to sign a long-term deal.

However, it doesn’t appear that the Pro Bowler’s absence from the voluntary offseason program has been much of an issue for the team.

When asked whether Clinton-Dix’s decision to skip OTAs has disappointed defensive passing game coordinator Joe Whitt, he replied, “Not at all. It’s voluntary. So the guys that are here are the guys that we’re worried about.”

Of course, things might change if Clinton-Dix decides to skip out on mandatory minicamp, which is on June 12-14.

With the departure of Morgan Burnett this offseason, Clinton-Dix now becomes the Packers’ most experienced safety at just 25 years old. He’s played all 64 games for Green Bay since he was drafted in the first round in 2014 out of Alabama.

Clinton-Dix followed up his Pro Bowl year in 2016 where he had five interceptions and 79 tackles with three more picks and another 79 tackles last year. Although, his performance dropped off noticeably from 2016.

Given his growing importance on the team and their lack of a replacement for him, it almost feels like the Packers have to offer Clinton-Dix a long-term deal. But everyone will just have to wait and see how negotiations go to find out for sure.
