This year has seen its share of sports legends come and go, and Green Bay Packers fans lost a franchise icon on Friday.
Legendary Hall of Fame cornerback Herb Adderley just died at the age of 81:

Adderley spent nine years with the Packers, and he was named First-Team All-Pro four times, helping Green Bay to numerous titles. He spent the final three years of his Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Philadelphia native was one of the great defensive playmakers of any era. Adderley finished his career with 48 interceptions, seven of which went for touchdowns. He also ranks ninth all-time in interception return yards.

Pro Football Hall of Fame President & CEO David Barker issued a statement on Adderley's passing, lauding him as a quality person on and off the field:
“The entire Pro Football Hall of Fame family mourns the passing of Herb Adderley,” Baker said, via NFL.com. “He was a great player and an even greater man. Herb left an indelible mark on the Game and was respected tremendously by players and personnel across the league. Our thoughts and prayers are with Herb's wife, Brenda, and their entire family. We will forever keep his legacy alive to serve as inspiration for future generations. The Hall of Fame flag will be flown at half-staff in Herb's memory.”
Herb Adderley will forever be recognized as one of the greatest players at the cornerback position, and an inspiration for any number of today's stars.
