Green Bay Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix said earlier this month that he doesn’t expect to be with the team next season. As it turns out, he might not even make it past this week.

According to Fox Sports’ NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Packers safety is one of several high-profile players on the trading block ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com also brought up Clinton-Dix’s name in the conversation of players who could potentially be moved due to his contract situation.

While we’re there on former first-round picks, Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is another who could potentially be moved before Tuesday. It’s not that he’s fallen out of favor—he’s actually played every snap on defense for Green Bay through six games. But he’s in a contract year, and the Packers have some depth in the secondary to play with.

Clinton-Dix, 25, was the Packers’ first-round pick in 2014. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2016 as he had five interceptions and made his first Pro Bowl team. However, he has been unable to build off that fine season as his game continues to be a bit too inconsistent.

That inconsistency is likely a major reason why the Packers opted not to hand Clinton-Dix a long-term contract this past offseason. And if he is indeed on the trade block as Glazer says, it’s almost surely a sign that they don’t intend to hand one to him this coming offseason and are ready to let him walk in free agency.

So whether it's in the next couple of days or at the end of the season, it seems as if Clinton-Dix is spot on that he is as good as gone in Green Bay.
