The 2019 NFL season is officially over, and it was another season without a Super Bowl for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers last won the big one after the 2010 NFL season. This campaign ended in blowout fashion at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.

It was clear in the NFC Championship Game that the 49ers were the better team. They were more complete, more physical, and more skilled than the Packers. Green Bay was given a shot in the game because No. 12 was under center. Aaron Rodgers had another strong season but it was very sneaky. He led the Packers to 13-3 and threw for 4,002 yards with 26 touchdowns and four interceptions.

This brings up the question of where he currently ranks among quarterbacks in the league. This is a ranking of active players in their current state. Aaron Rodgers has had better careers than most active quarterbacks, but that does not mean that he is currently better than them.

Is Aaron Rodgers Still a Top 5 QB?

The debate used to be whether or not Rodgers was the best at his position. Now, it has changed to if he is a top five quarterback. The answer is yes, but he is No. 5.

Aaron Rodgers used to be viewed as the most gifted and skilled player ever at quarterback. That title might be taken over by Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs just won a Super Bowl on the back of their franchise quarterback. Mahomes is the youngest player ever to win the league's MVP award and a Super Bowl. He is far and away the best quarterback in the league and there should be no debate.

Next on the list is Russell Wilson. In eight seasons, Wilson has never missed a game and has never had a losing season. He finished with 4,110 yards and 31 touchdowns this season with only five interceptions. If it were not for the next man on the list, Wilson would have been the MVP.

That man is Lamar Jackson. He set the single-season rushing record for a quarterback with 1,206 yards in 2019. Despite his shaky passing ability, Jackson is an elite runner and someone who can transcend the quarterback position more than Aaron Rodgers.

Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers can be debated for the fourth spot. For now, Brees is going to take it. He is still playing at an extremely high level and is showing no signs of slowing down. He returned from a hand injury this season and did not miss a beat. Unfortunately, Brees decided to play his worst game in the Wild Card Round where it mattered the most but he should still be put above Rodgers.

Those are the only four quarterbacks that can be put above Aaron Rodgers at this time. He is still elite and one of the best quarterbacks in the game but there are some younger players that surpassed him in 2019.
