StudioCanal (per The Hollywood Reporter) announced that Zegler has officially left Paddington in Peru. This was due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which is still ongoing. Zegler wasn't able to join the production in the midst of it. In turn, a new actor, Carlo Tous, will take over Zegler's role of Gina Cabot. Rumors of Zegler's departure surfaced online last month.

The Crown and Oscar winner Olivia Colman, along with Antonio Banderas have officially joined the cast.

Dougal Wilson, who's making his directorial debut with the upcoming threequel, spoke about the film in a statement. “It's been a joy and an honor to shoot Paddington in Peru with such a wonderful and talented cast and crew,” Wilson said. “I feel incredibly lucky to have been blessed with such a lovely group of people, many of whom have returned to the world of this beloved bear. We are also delighted to have welcomed Emily [Emily Mortimer], Olivia [Colman], Antonio [Banderas], and Carla [Tous] to the Paddington family.”

The Paddington series has been one of the most successful franchises in recent memory. Each of the first two films holds high scores from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The first has a 97%, and the sequel has a 99%.

Paddington in Peru recently got a release date update. It will hit theaters on January 17, 2025. The third film will follow the titular bear's adventure to Peru to visit his Aunt Lucy.

Rachel Zegler became a star thanks to her leading role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story. She's since gone on to star in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and will star in Disney's live-action Snow White film with Gal Gadot.

Paddington in Peru will be released on January 17, 2025.
