Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable are all headed to the Nintendo Switch as separate titles.

Persona 5 Royal Coming to the Nintendo Switch

It's official: Persona 5 Royal, along with Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable, is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Persona 5 Royal, which will come packaged with all post-launch content for Persona 5, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch system on October 21, 2022. But wait, there's more. Apart from the PlayStation 3 title, two PlayStation 2 Persona titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch as well. Announced during the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase on June 28, 2022, it was revealed that both Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable are also headed to the Nintendo Switch.

Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable are all enhanced versions of the base games of the highly revered Shin Megami Tensei: Persona games that all came to the PlayStation first. Persona 3 was a PlayStation 2 game that brought the Persona series to the mainstream, which was then enhanced for the PlayStation Portable as Persona 3 Portable, which added an entirely new story with a new protagonist, allowing players to play the game as a girl. Persona 4 Golden is an enhanced version of Persona 4, which then added a whole ton of content to the base game. The same goes for Persona 5 Royal, which is an enhanced version of Persona 5 and also contains a lot more content than its original release.

While Persona 5 Royal now has a release date for the Nintendo Switch, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable are still dubbed as “Coming Soon.”

While Royal and Golden are without a doubt the best versions of the games there are, fans are questioning why Persona 3 Portable is the chosen version of Persona 3 that will be ported to the Nintendo Switch. Another enhanced version of Persona 3, called Persona 3 FES, is also available. Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable have their own pros and cons, and some fans would prefer to play Persona 3 FES instead. Why Atlus would not make a retouched version that combines the best parts of both Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable, we could only wonder.
