Golf legend Tiger Woods is on the prowl for another major championship. That he is able to compete at the highest level is amazing in itself given where he was a year ago, but here he is, already making noise with his club from the get-go of the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills. His hot start must have also thrilled his fans who remember how he played early on in the 2007 edition of the PGA Championship which was also held at Southen Hills — a tournament that he won, of course.

Via PGA TOUR Communications:

Tiger Woods opened the first round birdie-par-par-birdie (Nos. 10-13) at the 2007 PGA Championship at Southern Hills. He’s currently 1-under after opening birdie-par-par on his first three holes. Heading to the par-5 13th now.

This is just Tiger Woods' second tournament of the season. The last one he played in was at the 2022 Masters Tournament back in April where he made the cut but finished just 47th overall. Nevertheless, that showed everyone that Woods is still capable of keeping up on the course despite all the injuries he's sustained in the past from playing and from the major car accident in February 2021.

The 46-year-old Woods has won the Wanamaker Trophy four times and winning another one this year would move him two major wins away from tying Jack Nicklaus' all-time record of 18.
