Following two straight days off, the Philadelphia 76ers took the floor in their visit against the Washington Wizards. The time off appeared to have done the trick, as the Sixers looked like a much different team compared to their previous matchup with the Atlanta Hawks last Thursday.

Thanks to a strong surge in the second half, they managed to take care of the Wizards easily and walked out of the nation's capital with a 117-96 victory.

Here are some observations from the Sixers' victory.

3. Furkan Kokrmaz resurgence

One Sixers player who has struggled mightily in recent weeks is Korkmaz. His recent dry spell has been so bad, coach Doc Rivers has been forced to cut his minutes at times. That being said, the 24-year-old showed some signs of life against the Wizards.

Korkmaz ended the game as the Sixers' third-leading scorer with 14 points in 14 minutes off the bench. He connected on five of his nine attempts, including a pair of makes from beyond the arc.

Sunday was a much-needed bounce-back performance for Korkmaz. A good shooting night like this should boost his confidence moving forward. Being so shorthanded, the Sixers need all the production they can get. Now that he has broken his slump, the goal for Korkmaz is to carry this momentum into the team's next game.

2. Outside shots falling

It's no secret three-point shooting has been a weak point for the Sixers in their recent stretch. Their shooting woes have been team-wide as they struggle to connect from deep.

Sunday was a different story and a sign the Sixers' cold spell could be ending soon. They shot 38.7% from three-point land against the Wizards, hitting 12 of their 31 attempts. Seth Curry led the three-point barrage at 3-for-8 shooting, while four different Sixers recorded at least two made three-pointers.

The Sixers are a much different team when they pose a threat on the outside. While they could still benefit from increasing their attempts a little more, this was still a strong shooting night for a team that has so desperately needed one.

1. Joel Embiid continues his dominant run

The Wizards, similar to most of the NBA, have no answer for a player like Embiid. Daniel Gafford and Montrezl Harrell are both good frontcourt players but pose little threat to the Sixers' All-Star big man.

From the opening tip, Embiid made his presence known. He tore through the Wizards defense en route to finishing with a game-high 36 points. Not only did he nearly eclipse 40 points, but needed just 17 shots to do so.

When Embiid gets rolling like this, there is almost no answer to stopping him. No matter what Washington threw at him, he had an answer. This showing can be added to the growing list of dominant performances he has put on to get the Sixers' season back on track. It might sound like a broken record, but Embiid's ability to elevate his game when needed is what every team wishes for out of a franchise cornerstone.
