After suffering a Grade 3 ankle sprain two months ago, Reggie Jackson has been recovering from it to be able to return to the court within the initial six-to-eight week timetable given to him by team doctors.

Not a lot has been heard about him since, but that recently changed as the Detroit Pistons gave an update on his current condition.

The team revealed some promising news, as the 27-year-old Boston College product has already been cleared to resume light running, shooting and continue his ankle strengthening exercises.

The Pistons also made it clear that there's still no exact date on when he can return to action, but they will monitor his progress this week, according to Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post.

Jackson has only played in 33 games so far this season, but was performing well before he was forced to remain on the sidelines. His averages of 14.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 27.1 minutes are very solid, and he gave the Pistons a proven playmaker who is not afraid to go up against some of the best point guards in the league today.

His experience has also been missed by the team, particularly on how he keeps his composure during pressure-packed situations.

The seven-year veteran's impending return will be a huge boost for the Motor City, and the timing couldn't come at a better time as they are currently making a move for one of the last playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

The Pistons' 28-29 record is only good for ninth place, but they are only two games out of eighth place.

If Jackson can ramp up his conditioning in the coming days, it will be interesting to see how he'll perform once he returns and also coexist with his new teammate, Blake Griffin, who has been a key addition for the team.
