Imane “Pokimane” Anys is one of the most successful streamers and content creators in the world. The video game streamer currently holds around 6.2 followers on her Twitch channel as well as a combined 7 million subscribers across multiple YouTube channels. Pokimane is best known for content focused on League of Legends and Fortnite. She has certainly come a long way from her humble streaming start in 2013.

By the numbers

Twitch is now a far cry from a simple off-shoot video streaming service website. The streaming platform allegedly brought in an estimated $1.54 billion in revenue in 2019 alone. Given the immense success of Twitch, it's hard not to believe that its most successful partners get a share of that massive pie. Pokimane is without a doubt one of the site's most successful streamers and that has generated many rumors regarding her supposed net worth.

In 2019, Pokimane herself debunked the rumors circling the web that her net worth was around $2 million. The streamer stated she only wishes it were true that she was worth so much money. It is unclear as to whether or not she has since breached the $2 million net worth milestone in the year since she released the video.

Realistically, Pokimane's net worth is estimated to be between $1-2 million. The millions of Pokimane fans on Twitch and YouTube contribute greatly to her revenue stream. Her success in streaming has gotten to a point where she decided to put a cap on Twitch donations. The 24-year-old streamer decided that any donation grander than $5 was no longer necessary. Pokimane urged her supporters to throw in their donation money to smaller channels. The donation cap will definitely put a substantial dent in her revenue stream but it is a respectable decision to try and redirect that funding to creators that need it more. The streamer stressed her gratitude towards her fans that allowed her to forego the donations almost completely.

Pokmimane started streaming in 2013 while she attended McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. She soon decided to leave her university and moved to California to begin streaming full time. She was one of the first streamers to engage in casual conversation with her audience years before the addition of the Just Chatting category in 2018.

Her Twitch channel began growing in popularity in 2018 following her involvement in the Epic Games Pro-Am tournament for Fortnite.  Her spike in popularity can definitely be attributed to Fortnite's meteoric rise in popularity following its launch. This served as a launchpad for the semi-successful streamer to truly become one of the platform's best.

Pokimane is also a part of a content creator group called Offline TV. Many other successful Twitch streamers such as Jeremy “DisguisedToast” Wang, William “Scarra” Li, Lily “LilyPichu” Ki, and Michael Reeves join Pokimane in the group. Pokimane remains part of the Offline TV group despite having moved out of the group's house earlier this year. DisguisedToast, in an Offline TV video, once suggested that Pokimane has the highest net worth among the members of the group.

The majority of Pokimane's net worth may be in ad revenue and sponsorships but the popular streamer has her eyes beyond streaming video games.  In 2017, she started her own ASMR channel which focuses on content aimed at triggering the autonomous sensory meridian response. ASMR videos mostly feature content creators whispering into a custom mic for ASMR. The videos of this nature can also include various role-play scenarios aimed at putting listeners in a calmed state. Pokimane's ASMR channel currently has over 700,000 subscribers.

The popular streamer has also dabbled in making her own merchandise. Pokimane announced in September of this year the launch of her very own merchandise line. She designed most of the material for her self-branded items for sale.

“I was so used to seeing blank T-shirts with a streamer’s name on it. I want to create merch that people would enjoy wearing, and is simple and easy to wear.”

It's an extremely commendable move to look for ways to earn money differently. Content creators focusing simply on ad revenue and sponsorships may find it difficult down the line to keep that kind of life sustainable. Many channels have found their internet empires crumble in the past due to such mistakes. Pokimane's decision to branch out into other content and merchandise speaks to her commitment to remaining a successful content creator.

Fans around the world have resonated with Pokimane's bright and relaxed personality which shows through in her streams. It's becoming increasingly clear that she is growing well past both YouTube and Twitch platforms. There's just no saying how far this young successful streamer can go.
