The Premier League has seen COVID-19 cases skyrocket in recent days as the Omicron variant rips its way through the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, that's made it extremely difficult for matches to be played, with three this week already being postponed due to outbreaks within the likes of Manchester United, Brentford, and Leicester City, among others.

That being said, the Premier League has decided to postpone another four fixtures this weekend:

It is with regret that the Premier League Board has postponed a further four matches due to be played this weekend.

The affected fixtures are:

Saturday 18 December
15:00 Southampton v Brentford
15:00 Watford v Crystal Palace
15:00 West Ham United v Norwich City

Sunday 19 December
12:00 Everton v Leicester City

This is awful news and to be frank, it feels like England's top flight has no other choice but to put a halt on games until the new year. Things aren't getting any better in the UK and there are far too many positive cases across the league.

Liverpool vs Newcastle is still a go on Thursday despite Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, and Curtis Jones all testing positive. Chelsea is scheduled to face Everton as well at Stamford Bridge, but they also have three cases of COVID-19.

In a nutshell, the Premier League is in shambles at the moment. It feels like two years ago all over again.
