There's a long list of people critical of the pairing of Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr heading into their third season together. The duo has silenced a few of them after they scored a huge 34-24 win against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.

The team is hitting their stride in their new home with an unblemished 2-0 standing in the season thus far. Gruden alluded the team's success to the playmaking skills of Carr despite seeing many new faces come to the team in previous seasons.

“This guy’s a great quarterback,” he said. “We’re surrounding him with better players. And once our defense I think starts playing to their potential, he can even be better. He does so much with the ball and without the ball and behind the scenes that I think Raiders fans should really be proud of him, and I know I am.”

The three-time Pro Bowler outdueled Drew Brees with 282 passing yards on 28 of 38 passes completed along with 3 passing touchdowns. Sophomore running back Josh Jacobs was the main option on offense once again as he ran a total of 88 rushing yards on 27 carries.

Tight end Darren Waller also saw his fair share of touches as he received 103 yards on 12 receptions along with a scored touchdown while rookie wideout Bryan Edwards contributed 42 yards on 2 touches of his own.

The Raiders have been spared from injuries in Week 2 which will be crucial in their pursuit of a winning record this season. Carr and the rest of the team will aim for a three-game winning streak against the revamped New England Patriots in Week 3 proceedings.
