Colin Kaepernick impressed the Las Vegas Raiders in his offseason workout. His first step back in returning to the NFL was a small one but was still important.

Although Kaepernick did well in the workout, he still has yet to make it back to the NFL. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, no deal is imminent from the Raiders. With Derek Carr, Jarrett Stidham and Nick Mullens already occupying the Raiders quarterback spots on the depth chart, there is no clear spot for Kap. Still, according to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson, he still has enough left in the tank to make it back.

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniel didn't jump at the chance to discuss Kaepernick working out for the team, though he didn't dismiss the idea of Las Vegas bringing him in. Offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi spent three seasons with Kaepernick when they were with the San Francisco 49ers, so there is some familiarity between the two sides.

Kaepernick has not played professional football since 2016 but could still have some value as a backup quarterback. His playoff experience would be especially important for a Raiders team looking to make it back to the postseason. He remains in tip-top shape and should still be able to perform better than most other backups throughout the league.

Las Vegas would be wise to give Colin Kaepernick another chance to show them he still has what it takes. His strong fit with the team and his determination are key reasons why he should be a Raiders quarterback.
