Carl Nassib has made his impact felt on the field for the Las Vegas Raiders. The defensive end came up large for the team in their epic Week 1 showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

Nassib made headlines after he stripped star QB Lamar Jackson, forcing a fumble to secure the overtime victory for the Raiders.

Carl Nassib made headlines before the season started, too. The Raiders star became the first prominent male athlete in any major US sport to openly come out as gay. Most NFL players showered Nassib with love and support for his bravery to come out to the public.

Of course, it becomes a different matter when the spotlight is off of him and his Raiders teammates have to interact with him on a daily basis. But thankfully, nothing has changed according to quarterback Derek Carr.

Via Associated Press:

“Not one person, from my point of view, has treated him any different,” Carr said. “His locker is just a few down from mine, and I want to make sure that he knows that we just want him to play as hard as he can so we can win a Super Bowl.”

The Las Vegas Raiders are one of seven teams left undefeated through the first two weeks of NFL action and Carl Nassib has played a big part in that. Hopefully the headlines around him continue to be about his stellar play as he goes about his career finally out of the closet.
