Doug Martin is looking for a fresh start with the Oakland Raiders and so far he has really jumped out during the offseason program to the coaches.

“Doug has really jumped out in camp with his quickness, his ability to pick up the offense and what we’ve given him,” offensive coordinator Greg Olson said in May via NBC Bay Area. “He’s really got a fresh set of legs. And that’s probably been the most encouraging thing when you watch him run out here in drills that we’ve run and the strength and conditioning stuff.”

Back in 2015, Martin rushed for over 1400 yards with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since that point,p he has dealt with injuries and fell out of the graces with the coaching staff in Tampa Bay and that has led to having to prove himself all over again. The last couple of years Martin still played okay when he was on the field however it was mostly in the backup role.

Martin is approaching this training camp like he is a rookie and has everything in the world to prove. He isn't a lock to make this roster by any means and he knows it.

“I’ve got to prove to the team, to the players, the coaches, that I can be useful on this team,” Martin said.

The Raiders will open training camp on Friday and it will be the first time to get a look at Jon Gruden in his new role. Gruden has brought in a lot of new players that he hopes can change the culture of the team.
