Things seemed to get heated between Raiders head coach Jon Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr on the sidelines during Sunday's contest against the Arizona Cardinals. But Gruden assures everyone that it's no big deal.

After the game, Gruden explained what the real situation was between him and his quarterback:

“That's the first time you've seen it, it ain't the first time it's happened,” Gruden said, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “We're both competitors. We're competing hard there. We had a man-to-man situation, he went for the big play, and we had a mild disagreement. But you know what? That’s part of this business. We’re going to have times when we clash a little bit. We’re also very supportive of one another. I’m very proud of him. He’s been through a lot this year. I’m glad he’s our quarterback.”

Gruden led reporters to believe that it may have looked like a heated altercation, however there was nothing worth noting in terms of any kind negativity on the sidelines.

The Raiders head coach even went on to say that Carr “brought us back to win in the 4th quarter.” Adding, “that ‘s the sign of a great quarterback.” There has been a lot of rumors and speculation that perhaps the Raiders were completely cleaning house and would deal Carr to another team for presumed draft picks. The rumors proved to be false, at least to this point in the season.

After Gruden took part in trading away talented players such as Khalill Mack and Amari Cooper, there was further speculation that he had been losing the team in terms of players not trusting him or believing in the direction that Gruden was headed in. Despite all of this, the Raiders got their second win of the season and that has to feel good in terms of short-term success.
