It is no secret that Thursday Night Football often gets pretty weird with this week's matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers being no different. With Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr going down with what appeared to be a severe groin injury early on, Las Vegas was forced to call upon former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, who has looked absolutely outstanding from the jump.

With Mariota previously spending his entire NFL playing career as a member of the aforementioned Titans, the former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 overall NFL Draft pick was then unseated by current Tennessee signal-caller Ryan Tannehill midway through last season. The Raiders then signed Mariota to a free agent contract this past offseason in order for him to back-up Carr.

Thanks to his time on the sideline as a back-up for both the Titans and Raiders, Mariota created an eye-popping fun fact during his first drive against the Chargers on Thursday evening. Mariota immediately led the Raiders down the field while ultimately finding Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller for the touchdown. Mariota's absolute dime to Waller, which capped off an impressive drive that featured several great throws, was his first touchdown pass in 14.5 months.

It is worth noting, though, that despite the fact that Mariota is off to a red-hot start for the Raiders, his time in Las Vegas didn't start off all that great. In addition to encountering some injury trouble toward the beginning of his Raiders tenure, Mariota then spent some time as the team's third-string quarterback behind both Carr and Nathan Peterman.
