Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis attempted to have his cake and eat it too after his team's preseason opener. When asked about how his franchise is handling the pandemic not dying down, coupled with the Delta Variant hurting the nation a big way, he played dumb and there's no other way to explain it.
Anyway, he said this AFTER saying he would not require fans to show proof of vaccination to get into the stadium.
“Health and safety will always be No. 1,” Raiders owner Mark Davis said, via ESPN. “The masks mandate is a good idea. I don't know how you can actually police it. If 100 percent of people are wearing masks, then we're on to something. If not, we might have to take a little tougher approach. What we don't want is to get back to (limited) attendance capacities. We want to be full capacity at all times.”
So, ugh, the way to “actually police” your alleged No. 1 priority is probably by making fans show proof of vaccination before allowing them into your stadium. Then again, you already said you won't do that so…
However, all the Raiders owner is doing here is trying to not offend those in his fanbase who do not believe in science or the health of other humans. So, great job Mark Davis. You're a coward.
