Ubisoft recently revealed the details for Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 Season 2, Operation New Blood, including its release date, the Recruit rework (Striker and Sentry), and more.

Operation New Blood Release Date: June 11, 2024

Operation New Blood has a release date of June 11, 2024. That's two weeks from now as of this article. This is the second operation of the year following Operation Deadly Omen. The Operation brings in the Recruit rework, the R6 Membership, and more. Let's first talk about the Recruit Rework

Operation New Blood: Striker and Sentry

Recruit has been reworked in Rainbow Six Siege into two new operators: Striker for the attackers, and Sentry for the defenders. Let's start with Striker.

Striker is a 2 Health 2 Speed Attacker, who, just like the Recruit, does not have any Unique Ability. Instead, they can equip any two of the Attacker's Secondary Gadgets. This includes the Breaching Charge (both Hard and Soft), Stun, Frag, and Smoke Grenades, the Impact EMP, and the Claymore.

Additionally, Striker will have access to the M4 or the M249 for their Primary Weapon, and the 5.7 USG or ITA 125 as their Secondary Weapon.

Sentry, on the other hand, is a 2 Health 2 Speed Defender. Much like Striker, Sentry does not have a Unique Ability, but can bring two Defender Secondary Gadgets. This includes Impact Grenades, Deployable Shields, Barbed Wire, Nitro Cells, Proximity Alarms, Observation Blockers, and the Bulletproof Camera.

Sentry will have access to the Commando 9 or the M870 for their Primary Weapon, and the C75 Auto and Super Shorty as their Secondary Weapon.

The idea behind Striker and Sentry is that they can be a flexible part of any team, able to fill in any holes in the defense using their flexibility when it comes to Secondary Gadgets. They also serve to help newcomers to the game become more accustomed to the game flow without having to worry about Unique Gadgets.

As Striker and Sentry are reworks of Recruit, players do not need to unlock them, as they are immediately available. Premium Battle Pass Owners will instead receive an Operator Voucer, while those who own all available Operators already will receive 600 R6 Credits

Fenrir and Solis Nerfs

Defenders Fenrir and Solis will be receiving nerfs during the launch of Operation New Blood, as they were deemed too strong in matches.

Fenrir's F-Natt Dread Mines are no longer bulletproof as part of the nerf, and he will only be able to carry four of them at a time. Solis' Spec-IO Electro Sensor, on the other hand, will have its duration and range reduced.

This will hopefully help maintain the balance between Attackers and Defenders in the game.

R6 Membership

Operation New Blood will also introduce the R6 Membership, a subscription that players can join for a few. Active Membership holders will enjoy monthly rewards, including time-limited gear, animated Legendary skins, 10x Battle level skips, a Bravo Pack, and access to the Premium Battle Pass.

R6 Marketplace

Following its successful Beta launch, the R6 Marketplace will be launching as well on June 25, 2024. To access it, players must have Two-Factor Authentication enabled and are at least clearance level 25. In the Marketplace, players will be able to safely and anonymously trade skins using R6 credits.

Other Operation Deadly Omen Updates

Operation New Blood will add a Standard Map Filter in Rainbow Six Siege, allowing players to filter between the Ranked Map Pool, Non-Ranked Map Pool, and All Maps. Players can use this to curate their unranked matchmaking experience, making it resemble casual or competitive play.

Training and onboarding also received an update, as players can now train using Endless Drill, complete with feedback. Additionally, Versus AI will see significant map additions, as well as the additions of more Operators.

Finally, Operation New Blood will bring Caster Card changes for an improved experience, some changes to the layout of Stadium, and some player comfort updates with regards to audio and flashbang customization.

That's all the information we have about the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Operation New Blood, its new operators Striker and Sentry, and more. More information about what to expect from Year 9 can be found on the Rainbow Six Siege Roadmap.
