The Los Angeles Rams brought in two terrific cornerbacks this offseason in Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters. Both are All-Pro-caliber corners who know their way around opposing offenses. But they got a better sense of their own offense during OTAs, and they came away pretty impressed:

“We got an introduction to that [Sean] McVay offense,” said Talib per ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry. “It was crazy.”

Peters believes that having those two talented units facing one another in practice all year long should make both of them that much better.

“It’s going to make us a whole lot better because the up-tempo and his playcalling style is crazy unique,” Peters said. “It’s going to cause for us to be on our toes a lot.”

Of course, it was that dynamic new offense which sparked the Rams’ incredible turnaround in McVay's debut season as head coach. They caught the league completely off-guard as they averaged a league-leading 30 points after finishing dead-last in 2016.

Quarterback Jared Goff finally looked like the player the Rams expected when they took him No. 1 overall a couple years ago in that system. Meanwhile, running back Todd Gurley was finally unleashed as a dual-threat back. He had 2,093 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns en route to winning the Offensive Player of the Year award.

The Rams’ defense-led by Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald-was also pretty good, but they thought it could get even better. That was why they spent this offseason adding more star power in the form of Talib and Peters, as well as Ndamukong Suh. Not to be outdone, though, their already formidable offense also added speedster Brandin Cooks to the mix.

If that defense lives up to its immense potential, opposing offenses will not enjoy playing against them at all. But the same can be said of the Rams’ “crazy” offense, which could just make LA the Super Bowl contender many expect them to be this year.
