Kicker Brett Maher is without a home once again. After his meltdown in the playoffs last season which led to the Dallas Cowboys parting ways, Maher has now been released by the Los Angeles Rams, per Ian Rapoport.

Maher missed two field goals in a Week 7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers along with an extra point. Since they did lose by seven points, they were all costly mistakes. Following the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay hinted at a potential change at kicker:

“We’ll look at it, and we’ll see,” McVay said, via a transcript from the team. “He’s got to be better. That’s seven points that were missed out on, that were key and critical for the momentum of the game and the type of game that it was. Those were tough ones, today.”

Los Angeles didn't take long to find a replacement for Maher though, signing Lucas Havrisik off the Browns' practice squad, as reported by Adam Schefter. Havrisik used to kick for the Indianapolis Colts.

During Maher's time with the Rams, he was 17 for 23 on field goals and 12 for 13 on extra points. The entire NFL world knows him because of last year's playoffs and honestly, it remains to be seen if he'll even get another chance in the league at this point.

That being said, his 17 made FGs are third in the NFL. Maher can clearly be a productive kicker, it simply comes down to consistency. We'll see if someone decides to sign the 33-year-old with lots of football left in the campaign.
