The Los Angeles Rams gave Jared Goff a large contract extension before the 2019 season. He did not live up to his pay raise, as he regressed in every statistical category and suffered the ultimate hangover from a Super Bowl loss: not revisiting the playoffs.

Goff threw for 4,638 yards, 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions on the year. His passer rating dipped from 101.1 to 86.5, marking his worst year in the category since his rookie season. It's fair to say that his play in 2019 was worrisome, especially considering that the Rams have no viable way of getting out of his contract for the foreseeable future.

Despite so, the Rams have faith in Goff. One of his trusted receivers Cooper Kupp talked to TMZ about the matter.

“We have all the faith in the world in Jared, absolutely love him, one of my good friends,” Kupp told TMZ, via Rams Wire. “So we’re going to be just fine. We’re going to work hard, things are going to come together. We’ve just got to get back out there and play again.”

The Rams gave Goff a four-year extension worth $134 million with $110 million guaranteed. To keep spirits high in Los Angeles, he will have to live up to the expectations that come with that contract.

“Expectations are high, which isn’t a bad thing,” Goff said. “We have high expectations for ourselves, too. It is what it is.”

Goff's regression is not all his fault, however. He dealt with a reeling offensive line and a run-game that failed to replicate production in years prior. If the Rams can reload around him, he could find himself back in the spotlight.
