Los Angeles Rams safety Eric Weddle suffered a scary concussion in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers, but there is hope he will be able to play in Week 2. Weddle took a knee to the head from Christian McCaffrey and left the field bloody and had to be carted off.

Weddle tweeted out midgame that he was good to go and was more concerned about the team coming out with a victory.

McVay gave an update on Monday saying that Weddle will need to go through the concussion protocol, but he wasn't feeling any symptoms, so the hope is he will be good to go.

“It’s the same. He was feeling good today. He has to go through the standard operating procedure as far as the concussion protocol,” McVay said via Rams Wire. “He didn’t have any symptoms today, but he has to go through that process and that’s something we’ll have updates on as the week progresses.”

The Rams have a huge showdown with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, and the hope is that Weddle will play a big part in the game.

“I think we’re hopeful,” McVay said when asked if Weddle will play. “You respect the process that this concussion protocol entails. It’s always a positive sign when a player is asymptomatic, but there’s a lot of tests that he has to go through to get the thumbs up to go. You always have to have those contingency plans in place. I think we’re hopeful he’ll be able to check out, but he has to go through all that.”

If Weddle can't play it will be Marqui Christian who will fill in, and he did an excellent job against the Panthers filling in during Week 1.
