With Todd Gurley no longer on the team, the Los Angeles Rams plan to use a running back by committee approach, according to Greg Beach of the Associated Press.

Rams general manager Les Snead said instead of having a workhorse back, the team plans to have a few backs with different skill sets. Each of the last three seasons, Gurley has had at least 220 carriers and not having a workhorse is going to be a big change.

The Rams currently have Malcolm Brown, John Kelly, and Darrell Henderson on the roster. Henderson was drafted in the third round in the 2019 draft, and even though he didn't have a big role last season, there is still hope he can have a big season. Henderson was a star with the Memphis Tigers and his junior year was a big one. Henderson rushed 214 times for 1,909 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 295 yards and five touchdowns.

During the 2019 season, Brown rushed 69 times for 255 yards and five touchdowns. With a bigger role on the Rams, the expectations are that he can break out even more.

The big question now for the is if they think they have enough talent at running back to compete next season. There are still a few options available in free agency that would be good role players, or the team could go the route of the draft. It wouldn't be shocking if the Rams selected a running back in the middle rounds again this season.
