The Los Angeles Rams swung a blockbuster deal to acquire Jalen Ramsey in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, but just before they landed Ramsey, they traded fellow cornerback Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens.
On Wednesday, Rams general manager Les Snead said that Peters drove from downtown Los Angeles to Thousand Oaks—approximately a 50-mile hike—to say goodbye to his now former teammates, according to Greg Beacham of The Associated Press.
Through six games this season, Peterson has logged 14 tackles, a couple of interceptions, a fumble recovery, four passes defended and a defensive touchdown.
Los Angeles acquired Peters in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2018, sending a couple of draft picks to the Chiefs in return for the defensive back's services.
However, Peters, who was a star in Kansas City, was very disappointing in his first season with the Rams, finishing with 43 tackles, three picks, eight passes defended and a defensive score.
Peters played his collegiate football at the University of Washington and was originally selected by the Chiefs in the first round (18th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.
He burst on to the scene during his rookie campaign, racking up 60 tackles, eight interceptions, a forced fumble, 26 passes defended and a pair of defensive touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
The 26-year-old then had another terrific season in his second year, totaling 45 tackles, six picks, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and 20 passes defended, making the Pro Bowl and earning a First-Team All-Pro selection as a result.
A slightly less productive third season in Kansas City resulted in the Chiefs trading him to the Rams.
