Ricky Williams is a name that quite a few NFL fans may not remember or know. Even though he was one of the most talented running backs to ever play the game, many do not recognize him as just that. Despite how good he was, Williams opened up about one of today's biggest stars in the backfield, Todd Gurley.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Williams was asked who the better running back was between himself and Gurley. He doesn't think the answer is even close.

“He's better. He's better. He's better than I was.”

That is some high praise from Williams, who during his career carried the football 2,431 times for 10,009 yards and 66 touchdowns. He also caught 342 passes for 2,606 yards and eight touchdowns.

Gurley is coming off of a massive week for the Rams in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos. He racked up 208 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while also catching two passes for 17 yards. On the season, Gurley has carried the ball 129 times for 623 yards and nine touchdowns to go along with 21 receptions for 247 yards and two touchdowns.

At just 24 years old, Gurley is just getting into his prime. He has plenty of years left to continue beefing up his stats, but as of right now he appears to be a future Hall of Famer.

Williams was one of the most violent runners of his era and Gurley is a very similar kind of runner. Both players have respect for each other, but Williams' comments show a little bit of how much respect the Rams' running back has earned for himself.

Los Angeles is the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL following the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the New England Patriots. Gurley is a big reason for their record and certainly has to be in the running for MVP at this point in the season.
