Rams OL Rodger Saffold hoping to stay in Los Angeles

Rodger Saffold

Los Angeles Rams guard Rodger Saffold is pretty clear when it comes to his hopes of wanting to stay with the team beyond the 2018 season.

Saffold is officially the longest-tenured player on the current Rams roster, and despite being set to enter free agency this offseason, he is making it publicly known that he’d love to stay in Los Angeles.

He has played a key role in helping protect franchise quarterback Jared Goff, and it seems like Saffold wants to continue to build on the success that the Rams have had in recent years.

Here’s what he had to say about his current situation and why he’d want to come back to the team, courtesy of ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry:

“You want to be paid fairly,” Saffold said. “But I think the culture and the team that I’m around is worth just as much as the extra money that I could get from going somewhere else.

“That’s just with getting older and understanding what I’m around. I want to be successful for years to come, and I think in order to do that — I’ve been with this team for so long already, it’s like why start changing now that it’s good.”

Saffold has been with the team for his entire career, even it looked like he was headed to join the Oakland Raiders several years ago before the deal fell through.

As for the Rams, they got back on track last week with a 31-9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals and will try to build even more momentum for the playoff push this weekend when they host the San Francisco 49ers.
