The Los Angeles Rams face a real predicament. Their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread, but their Week 16 opponents are the San Francisco 49ers, the team with arguably the best defense in the entire NFL.

You can be sure that the Rams are feeling the pressure ahead of this do-or-die match. In fact, Sean McVay ceded a big thing about the Niners. He talked about their defense, and his admiration for the things they're doing on that end is reminding him how big of a mountain his Rams will have to overcome to keep their playoff hopes alive.

“They did a great job. They’re a great defense, they’re one of the top defenses in the league and they’ve got one of the better pass defenses,” McVay said Tuesday, per Rams Wire's Cameron DaSilva. “Arguably, you just look at the numbers, they’re up there in league history. They’ve done a great job.”

The 49ers are the second-best in the NFL when it comes to overall yards allowed at 3766 yards. They are giving the New England Patriots defense a run for their money as they are the best pass defense in the entire league. Their rushing defense lags behind at 1605 yards, but they definitely make their presence felt on the opponents.

However, McVay hopes that his team will be able to put up a better fight compared to their atrocious performances against the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys.

“Hopefully, we’ll have a better showing, but we certainly know what a great challenge it will be, because of what a great job Robert Saleh does leading the way, and then all the great players that they have executing the scheme,” McVay added.

This is likely more of a dream rather than a plan as the Rams are nowhere near the incredible form they showed last year.
