Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay announced that Cooper Kupp will start practicing next week, with the team opening the 21-day window to activate him off of the Injured Reserve,” according to Stu Jackson. The star wide receiver has been on the IR since the start of the season with a hamstring injury but is first eligible to return in Week 5.

This is amazing news for a 1-2 team that is hoping to compete for a postseason spot. It might seem rather excessive to celebrate a player merely being on track to return, but Kupp's health has been surrounded with uncertainty. A setback or longer stint on the IR was perfectly plausible, given the nature of the injury and his past medical history.

Obviously, there are still impediments to the former All-Pro making his season debut next Sunday in SoFi Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles. Kupp has to prove he is ready for action during practice. Though, McVay and the Rams organization appear confident in the progress he is making in his recovery.

In the Super Bowl 56 MVP's absence, LA has seen two receivers break out. Rookie Puka Nacua has enjoyed a historic start to his NFL career, while Tutu Atwell is averaging 14.5 yards per catch. If Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford can figure out how to keep everyone fed, the return of Cooper Kupp could catapult this offense to dangerous levels.

The Rams are determined to play competitive football deep into the year, and arguably nothing makes that goal more attainable than one of the talents most synonymous with their championship peak.
