New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton believes that Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is the best defensive player in the NFL.

The Saints will host the Rams on Sunday with the winner earning a spot in Super Bowl LIII on Feb. 3.

And it's clear that New Orleans will need to prevent Donald from making big plays if it wants to win, but Payton already understands the challenges that come along with trying to do that.

From Herbie Teope of the NFL's official website:

“It's hard to say you're going to keep him in check,” Payton said Wednesday of the Rams' defensive lineman. “He's played as well at that three-technique position that we've seen in years.

“I mean, arguably and I don't know even if it's an argument, he's the best defensive player today in football. His numbers, his production, it shows up in the run game, it shows up in the passing game and it's a challenge.”

Donald has once again had an incredible year with the Rams, as he racked up 59 total tackles and 20.5 sacks during the regular season.

Of course, Sean McVay's squad will be looking for revenge after the Saints earned a 45-35 victory in the previous meeting between the two teams back in Week 9.

With Donald leading the way, the Rams will hope to continue their hot streak and head back to the Super Bowl.
