It seems every offseason the question surrounding Los Angeles Rams tackle Andrew Whitworth is if he will be hanging up the cleats. The last couple of years the question has been brought up and each time Whitworth has decided to play at least one more season.

Whitworth's wife, Melissa, has been asking the same question the last couple of years and thinks this could finally be the last year of his career.

“I think it’s more likely than not that this [season] will be it,” Melissa Whitworth said, via Ryan Kartje of the Orange County Register. “But if you would’ve asked me last December what I thought, I would’ve told you it’s 100 percent he’s retiring. I was wrong then. So who knows?”

Whitworth has gotten a second boost of energy making the playoffs with the Rams and he said earlier this off-season even if the team would have won the Super Bowl we would have still probably come back.

“It was one of those things where I felt like win or lose, it seemed like it was in people’s heads that if I won, that was it,” he said. “Where in my mind, I’m thinking, if we win, that would only inspire me to go play another one. I really had a desire to finish my contract and finish what I signed up to do.”

The focus right now for Whitworth is to get back in the playoffs and make a run for the Super Bowl and worry about the retirement talk, until after this upcoming season.
