Marshall Faulk has company. The Los Angeles Rams are battling the San Francisco 49ers as their do-or-die game enters the second act. Todd Gurley was one of the key players behind the Rams' strong first-half performance.

In fact, he's played so well that it's revealed that he's on pace to have the most rushing touchdowns in franchise history after matching Marshall Faulk's record.

J.B. Long of ESPN Los Angeles shared the details of the achievement:

He's playing incredible football in spite of his rushing yards not looking like the stat that pops out of the box score. He's only covered 33 rushing yards in 12 carries, but his two touchdowns make him easily the most productive offensive player on the field. His contributions on the field are also badly needed if they're going to have any chance of winning the game and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

ClutchPoints' Greg Patuto explained why putting the ball on Gurley's hands is the way to go for the Rams:

The 49ers are one of the best defenses in the league. The Rams cannot afford to go three-and-out at a high rate and stop the clock with incomplete passes. Los Angeles wants Jimmy Garoppolo and the offense on the sideline as much as possible. Establishing the run accomplishes that goal and it wears down the defense.

With the way Gurley's been playing, it's possible that he'll be able to help the team get the win and keep their playoff hopes alive.
