The entire offseason the Los Angeles Rams have tried to downplay the Aaron Donald contract extension. The team kept saying they were working towards a resolution and the other big contracts given out during the offseason would have an effect on his contract situation.

It appears with the two sides not able to reach an agreement yet, Donald is putting his foot down and won't move it unless there is a resolution.

According to Adam Schefter, it doesn't matter how much he is fined, Donald will not play another snap on the field until he has a new contract in his hand.

In the last week, the Rams paid Brandon Cooks and Todd Gurley but Donald still sits without a contract. Seeing those two guys get locked up long term couldn't have helped this situation at all.

According to Ian Rapport of the NFL Network if Donald doesn't report before August 7th he would become a restricted free agent next summer, instead of an unrestricted one.

Schefter seems to think that doesn't matter and Donald won't report before that date unless a new contract is agreed upon.

If Donald doesn't report and he does miss games or the entire season that really isn't good news for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations. Donald is the best player on a defense that was improved this offseason and without him the defense won't be nearly as good.

This team can still have a ton of success without Donald, but he still seems key to this team this year.
