The Los Angeles Rams fell to 7-3 after a disappointing 31-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

The Rams still sit atop the NFC West, but Arizona is right behind them as the playoff race thickens heading into the second half of the NFL season. Los Angeles has lost two in a row after winning seven of their first eight games. This was the first road loss of the season for Sean McVay's team.

Here are three takeaways from the Rams loss in the Bay Area on primetime:

Rams Week 10 Takeaways After Loss To 49ers

Odell Beckham Jr's Debut Was Underwhelming

It wasn't a great showing for Odell Beckham Jr. in his first game as a member of the Rams. The former Browns receiver was only targeted three times, catching two passes for just 18 yards.

It started promising, as Odell got a catch on the Rams first play of their opening drive. It ended badly however, with Beckham Jr. and quarterback Matt Stafford having a miscommunication downfield and Stafford throwing an interception that was intended for Beckham Jr.

With Robert Woods out for the season due to a torn ACL, Beckham Jr. will be called upon even more going forward, as the Rams offense has become mostly one dimensional honing in on Cooper Kupp.

Stafford Coming Back Down To Earth

There's no doubt that Mathew Stafford is a good NFL quarterback, but he's never been considered great or top-tier. NFL pundits got a little ahead of themselves during the Rams hot start to the season, and Stafford has been someone who was maybe praised a little premature.

Stafford threw two interceptions for the second straight week, and only passed for 243 yards in the loss to the 49ers. The Rams have a similar record to last year when Jared Goff was at the helm, and haven't been able to sustain a good enough running game with Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel. Los Angeles only ran the ball nine times, thanks to the early two-score deficit.

Stafford currently leads the NFL in passing yards and will end up getting MVP consideration because of the “narrative”, but does he deserve it? Not after what we've seen over the last two games, which were both televised in front of a national audience. Stafford has yet to win a single playoff game in his career, and seasoned vets such as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers will have that advantage over him come the postseason.

Defensive Struggles Continue

After ranking first in the NFL in yards against last year, the Rams defense has taken a serious step back. Jimmy Garoppolo had his way with the Rams secondary, and wasn't pressured much at all on the night.

The Rams were particularly exposed on the ground, unable to contain the rush as San Francisco ran the ball more than 40 times on the night. Von Miller only made two tackles in his debut, but will make a huge difference for a unit that needs a boost.

The Rams are now entering a bye weekend at a perfect time, as they attempt to re-group and get back to looking like a Super Bowl contender.
