Former Baltimore Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro passed away on Wednesday, prompting the Ravens to pay their respects on social media.

In response to the tragic news of Taliaferro's passing, the Ravens took to Twitter to send their condolences to his family and friends:

According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Taliaferro was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital in his hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia. It was revealed that Taliaferro passed away due to a heart attack at 28 years old.

Taliaferro was a standout running back at Coastal Carolina, rushing for 1,729 yards and 27 touchdowns in the 2013 collegiate season. His performance at Coastal Carolina gave him an opportunity to make the NFL, which he ended up achieving.

Following his productive collegiate career, Taliaferro began his NFL career as a fourth-round pick of the Ravens in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Virginia native would put together a decent rookie season, rushing for 292 yards and four touchdowns on 68 attempts for Baltimore.

He would proceed to play two more seasons with the Ravens, accumulating 86 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in his final two seasons. Altogether, Taliaferro would finish his career with five yards per touch and five touchdowns.

After being waived by the Ravens, he would then attempt to continue his career in football by trying out for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.

While Taliaferro wasn't a prominent member of Baltimore's offense, he was an outstanding human being off the field. As shown by Brandon Taylor Charpied on Twitter, Taliaffero went out of his way to give back to fans and alumni of Coastal Carolina:

We send our condolences to Taliaferro's family and friends as they deal with the passing of Lorenzo.
