Nobody was happier to see Baltimore Ravens quarterback Trace McSorley toss his first career touchdown pass than his former Penn State teammate Saquon Barkley.

The star New York Giants running back twice tweeted his excited reaction after the third-stringer hit Marquise Brown for a 70-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's postponed showdown between the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.

McSorley, a sixth round pick in 2019, got his first taste of NFL action after veteran signal-caller Robert Griffin III left Baltimore's 19-14 loss with an apparent hamstring injury with just over seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Thrust into action with a depleted Ravens squad and facing a vaunted Steelers defense, McSorley admirably held his own. He notched his first career completion on his first drive, then found Brown for the 70-yard completion on the next possession.

The score brought the Ravens within five points with just under three minutes to play, though the Baltimore defense was unable to get the ball back.

Overall, McSorley competed two of six passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball three times for 16 yards, including a fourth-down conversion.

The 25-year-old broke all sorts of Penn St. passing records during his three seasons starting under center for the Nittany Lions (2016-18). He holds the single-season record for passing yards, passing touchdowns, total touchdowns, and is the program's career total yards leader.

In 2016, McSorley and Barkley led the Nittany Lions to the Rose Bowl (a loss to USC), and McSorley earned second place Heisman Trophy votes. In 2017, McSorley was named MVP of the Fiesta Bowl.
