John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, made an interesting comment earlier this month, saying that it would be ‘humanly impossible' to comply with the NFL's COVID-19 protocols in 2020. Despite what he said before, Harbaugh is confident that the upcoming season will begin on time.

“I’m confident that it will happen,” Harbaugh said, via the Baltimore Sun. “I’m very hopeful. I’m praying for it. I want it to happen and I think it will happen, I believe it will happen. I think we’ll have the protocols in place.”

In recent weeks, there has been a sudden uptick in NFL players to test positive for the coronavirus. Altogether, Ezekiel Elliott, a member of the San Francisco 49ers, and two players from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tested positive this month.

With that in mind, the NFL has already exclaimed that they expect multiple positive cases to occur. Nevertheless, there is still uncertainty surrounding how the league plans on conducting the regular season. While the NFL discusses possible solutions, the Ravens coach admits that not even the league knows what is going to transpire in the next few months.

“Nobody knows what’s going to happen in the next six months. No human being knows that, so we’ll just have to be very adaptable and flexible and smart about what we do. And that’s what we’re going to try to do,” said the Ravens head coach.

Seeing that football is a contact sport, the NFL will have to be a bit more thorough in their efforts to play a season amid the coronavirus pandemic. Even with some people having their doubts, Harbaugh believes the NFL will begin the season on September 10 as scheduled.
