Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is being criticized yet again.

Former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard believes that Jackson's style of play does not necessarily fit with the mold of today's game.

In a conversation with Colin Cowherd on The Herd, Bernard said “He has a pacifier in his mouth. He’s not making any checks, he's not moving the o-line, he's not checking out of certain plays to put himself into a better situation offensively.”

When discussing the style of football that the Ravens play, Bernard classified it as “backyard football.”  This means that more often than not, the Ravens rely specifically on Lamar Jackson to make the big play.

“What the offense is doing is saying, “my number eight is better than your eleven” and 95% of the time, that is probably true. But backyard football is not sustainable in the National Football League.”

Pollard doesn't ignore how good Lamar Jackson has been. But he still believes that his success has been founded by what they do in Baltimore

“This dude should be the top paid quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. Now I think the Ravens are the only place that should pay him top dollar. So whatever Watson got, Lamar should get that, plus 15 to 20 more guaranteed.” All of this comes on the heels of an insane and entertaining Twitter feud on Thursday night between Jackson and Pollard.

Jackson, who was taken with the 32nd pick in the 2018 draft, has been among the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Through his first four seasons, he has already won an MVP, is a two-time Pro-Bowler, and a one-time All-Pro.

In 58 career appearances, Jackson has thrown for 84 touchdowns, 9,967 yards, and 31 interceptions. He has rushed for another 615 yards and 21 touchdowns.

As Lamar Jackson enters year five, all eyes will be on him and how far he can take this team.
