Why The Reds Will Cover The Spread/Win

Andrew Abbott has already pitched against the Giants this season. In that game, the Reds won as Abbott did a good job shutting down San Francisco. Abbott threw five innings, and allowed six hits, and two runs as he led the Reds to a win. He only struck out two batters, but he was able to force weak contact. Abbott does a good job of forcing weak contact on the season as a whole, so he needs to continue that. If Abbott can have another start like that, the Reds should be able to win this game.

Kyle Harrison does not have a promising baseball-savant page. He has a high barrel percentage, hard hit percentage, and average exit velocity. The Reds should be able to make some solid contact in this game. Cincinnati has a good, young lineup, and they have to do some damage if they want to win this game.

Why The Giants Will Cover The Spread/Win

Kyle Harrison is coming off a great month of July. He made four starts, threw 20.1 innings, allowed just 11 hits, and had an ERA of 2.66. Harrison has also pitched against the Reds once this season. In that game, the Giants won, and Harrison had a decent game. Harrison threw five innings, allowed just three runs on three hits, and struck out five. With how Harrison has pitched lately, his ability to pitch at home, and his start against the Reds, the Giants should win this game.

The Giants have to be good at the plate in this game. Abbott does not strike out a lot of people and has a high walk rate. Abbott does not get a lot of whiffs, so the Giants are going to make a lot of contact. They just have to make solid contact. If San Francisco can have a good game at the plate, they will be able to win this game.

Final Reds-Giants Prediction & Pick

This is a good pitching matchup between two young, and promising starting pitchers. It is hard to ignore what Kyle Harrison has done lately, though. He is pitching very well, and I am expecting that to continue in this game. I will be taking the Giants to win this game straight up Friday night.
