The Washington Redskins got just about the worst news a team can get when making a strong run for the playoffs. Starting quarterback Alex Smith suffered a season-ending  injury in which he broke his tibia and fibula in Sunday's matchup with the Houston Texans.

A lot of speculation so far has surfaced in the direction of the Redskins giving former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick a chance to step in for the opportunity to be the man under center. However, Washington seems to have no interest in Kaepernick as of the moment, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Notable quarterbacks that will contest for the quarterback job in Washington involves current backup Colt McCoy, E.J. Manuel, T.J. Yates, and Mark Sanchez. While it seems increasingly unlikely Kaepernick will get the call, he is arguably better than these options for Washington.

Team president Bruce Allen is a political conservative and has made it clear in the past that Kaepernick will never have a place on the team. Quarterbacks coach Kevin O'Connell was with San Francisco when Kaepernick was on the roster, but it sounds like not even that would sway Allen into giving Kaepernick a chance.

Kaepernick continues to be non-negotiable for many NFL teams and Washington will be no different. The former San Francisco quarterback may never see the field again after missing all of last season and with his political views constantly being brought up he doesn't seem to stand a chance of getting another opportunity.
