The Washington Redskins made a big splash in free agency yesterday, signing cornerback Kendall Fuller to a four-year deal worth $40-million.
Now they are back in the news on Tuesday, this time with a much more low-key signing. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Washington signed free agent linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis. It's a one-year contract that could be up to $3.45-million with incentives.

Pierre-Louis certainly isn't the big signing that Fuller was, however, he could be a great addition. He's an athletic linebacker who was pretty well-loved by Chicago Bears fans.
A special teams standout, Pierre-Louis will immediately bolster the Redskins' unit. However, that might not be his only impact on the team.
Washington has a very strong pass rush. They could always use some more depth though, and Pierre-Louis has nice upside there.
Article Continues BelowWhile he only has one sack, he's shown some flashes as a playmaker at linebacker.
That includes 2019, when he racked up his second-most tackles in a single season (37), while setting new career-highs in interceptions (1), pass deflections (3) and tackles for loss (2).
Pierre-Louis gives the Redskins a linebacker they can trust should he need to play on defense. He also gives them someone that past defensive coordinators have loved. So clearly there is something with him. It could be a great work ethic, passion or talent that shines through and is waiting to reach its full potential with a team.
If it's the Redskins that get that player, they could have just made one of the sneaky-great deals of free agency.
For now though, Pierre-Louis is a depth piece and a phenomenal addition to their special teams. At the price they paid, he was definitely worth it.
