Forward Robert Covington has fit in seamlessly with his new team after being the center piece of a return package for Jimmy Butler. The new Minnesota Timberwolves wing represents the three-and-D asset head coach Tom Thibodeau so badly wanted to stop ball-dominant players like Damian Lillard, who they'll take on tonight at home.

Thibodeau has been fond of Covington's ability to switch onto point guards and defend them with the same stingy style. The new Wolves wing felt equally confident in his ability.

“No real challenges,” said Robert Covington when asked of a potential matchup against a First-Team All-NBA player like Lillard, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “He's very gifted, but I use my length and athleticism to disrupt people.”

“I'm one of the best defenders in the league. That comes from guarding everybody. No matchup in front of me gives me jitters. Just take it and embrace it.”

Robert Covington made his mark in the league as a versatile defender before incorporating a 3-point shot into his repertoire. The 6-foot-9 wing quickly showed in his lone start with his new team the type of defensive impact he can bring to the Timberwolves.

“I enjoy playing with him a lot,” said franchise star Karl-Anthony Towns. “His ability to defend and just bring a lot of energy on the court, with his experience, helped us a lot. Dario was amazing as well. They made great first impressions.”

Cove has already carved out a spot as a starter from the onset, and by the looks of it after a 41-minute debut outing, coach Thibodeau plans to play him heavy minutes from the onset, hoping his defense does all the talking for him while he picks up on the offense.
