Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey hit back at a Twitter troll who incorrectly posted about the Rockets' unfortunate string of consecutive missed 3-pointers in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals last season against the Golden State Warriors.

Of course, it actually was 27 straight missed 3s, so Morey clearly was feeling snarky about the situation. It's understandable given he has been one of the leading pioneers in the 3-point-heavy way the game is played today across the league.
Morey took the job with the Rockets in 2007, and he has since been a heavy influence in transforming them into one of the premier teams in the league. Due to his strong focus on analytical methods, Morey created the true shooting percentage statistic, which is comprehensively relied on and studied in today’s game.
The main reasoning behind the birth of true shooting percentage is Morey’s view of favoring 3-point field goals over mid-range jump shots. He has backed up this theory with analytics, and it has seen an unimaginable increase across the league in 3-point attempts in recent years.
The Rockets have put Morey’s methods in action and have broken the NBA’s 3-point record two seasons in a row. It seems like only yesterday in 2016 that the Golden State Warriors were the first team in NBA history to make 1,000 3-pointers in a season, but the Rockets have trounced that number in the past two campaigns with ease.
Despite the 3-pointer failing them at the end of last season against the Warriors with an NBA Finals appearance so close, the Rockets will continue to hoist them up in an attempt to go one better this time around with their slightly reshaped roster.
