Rockies pitching is 20th in team ERA while sitting 20th in WHIP and opponent batting average. Ty Blach will be on the mound for his third start of the year. Last time out, he went five innings, giving up seven hits, but just one run in a win. He is 1-1 on the year with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Current members of the Giants have 34 career at-bats against Blach. They have hit .412 in their career against Blach.

Why The Giants Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Giants are 22nd in the majors in runs scored, while sitting 16th in batting average, 21st in on-base percentage, and 21st in slugging. Thairo Estrada leads the team in RBIs this year. He is hitting just .239 on the year but with a .265 on-base percentage. He has eight doubles, a triple, and six home runs on the year, leading to 21 RBIs. Estrada has also scored 18 times. Right behind him in RBIs is Michael Conforto. Conforto is hitting .280 on the year with a .331 on-base percentage. He has several doubles, a triple, and seven home runs. This has led to 20 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Leading the team in scoring is Matt Chapman. Chapman is not hitting great, hitting just .206 on the year, and getting on base at just a .258 rate. Still, he has eight doubles and five home runs, while stealing three bases. This has led to 19 RBIs and 22 runs scored in the year.

The Giants are 26th in team ERA while sitting 27th in WHIP and 28th in opponent batting average. It will be Jordan Hicks on the mound for the Giants in this one. He is 3-1 with a 2.44 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. He made five starts in April, going 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA. In May, it has not been the same level of success. He has a 4.50 ERA in May so far, going 1-1.  The current Rockies have 36 career at-bats against Hicks. They have hit .306 with two RBIs in that time.

Final Rockies-Giants Prediction & Pick

Neither offense is very good, and coming into the game, the Rockies have been better at the plate than the Giants. Further, neither pitching staff has been good either. Still, the Rockies have gotten better pitching than the Giants as of late too. Jordan Hicks has struggled some as of late, and while Ty Blach will not go deep into the game, he should be able to go deep enough to let the Rockies keep this one close. Take the Rockies with the extra runs in this one.
