It wasn’t long ago when Devin Booker had the reputation of solely being a high-volume scorer on a losing team. Apart from his offensive prowess, there wasn’t much in the shooting guard’s game that can lead the Phoenix Suns back to relevance again. That is until the Bubble in Orlando happened. Devin Booker's NBA card collectors were in for a wild ride.

During the Suns’ incredible 8-0 run last year, Booker averaged 30.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6 assists in 33.8 minutes on the court. He would go on to lead Phoenix over more established teams in the NBA at that time, such as the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat. And even though his team would fail to land a playoff spot, Booker’s performance in the bubble left the whole world wanting more.

Now in his sixth season in the league, Booker is taking the momentum he earned in the Bubble to take the Suns back to the postseason. We take a look down below at how he’s performing this year and the impact it’s making on his value in the card market.

How is Devin Booker doing this year?

While last season was a heartbreaker for the Phoenix Suns and its fans, this year has been a pleasant surprise. The team is currently second in the Western Conference with a 38-15 record, just a couple of games behind the league-leading Utah Jazz. Chris Paul’s arrival to the Valley has elevated the team and unlocked them for the postseason.

Booker, in particular, is one of the primary guys who have benefitted from the Point God’s presence. This year, he’s averaging 26 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 34 minutes per game. He’s connecting 55% from two, 36% from three, and 86% from the free-throw line, making his shot selection more efficient this year.

All of these numbers came together in perfect unison at the end of March when the Suns came away with a 121-116 win over the Chicago Bulls. In that game, Booker notched a season-high 45 points with 78% shooting from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. With this kind of performance, combined with Paul’s leadership and the improvement of Phoenix’s key players, Booker will soon get to have his first playoff experience after languishing in mediocrity for so long.

The state of Devin Booker rookie cards in the market

While Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, and Kristaps Porzingis are all big names in their own right, Devin Booker is undeniably the hottest player from the 2015-16 NBA Draft Class. In the middle of January this year, his PSA 10 Prizm rookie card was sold for $935 on eBay and dipped to $850 the following month.

From March up to the start of April, the All-Star’s value ranged from $898 to $955. Now, Booker’s PSA 10 Prizm rookie card is hitting $1,045. Certain factors that caused his price to go up are the Phoenix Suns’ strong standing in the West and their imminent return to the playoffs after a 10-year drought.

Booker’s card value can go two ways after this season. First, his prices will go crazy if they at least make the Conference Finals and he gets to show off in some of those games. On the other hand, his value will plummet if the Suns are eliminated early in the playoffs and Booker becomes a non-factor on the court. Either way, collectors should be decisive and wise on when to sell their Devin Booker rookie cards. Doing so will help you make a good profit from the All-Star this season.
