From playing a posh not-really-a-monster in Saltburn, Jacob Elordi may be gearing up to transforming into a real one for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Frankenstein film for Netflix, Showbiz411 reported.

The entertainment site said sources reported that Elordi may be taking over Andrew Garfield as Frankenstein's monster. Del Toro had also announced other cast members as Oscar Isaac who will play the doctor Pretorius. Pretorius tries to track down his creation who was believed to have died in a fire some 40 years earlier. Two time Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz and British actress Mia Goth also join the cast.

Garfield reportedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. He has back-to-back projects which include playing scientist Carl Sagan in Voyager, currently in production. He also has two miniseries in development: one where he will play British mogul Richard Branson in Hot Air and a remake of Brideshead Revisited.

Del Toro told Collider in October, “I'm doing Frankenstein. We’re working on it, we start shooting on it in February. It’s a movie I’ve been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein and I had an epiphany and is basically a movie that requires a lot of growth and a lot of tools that I couldn’t have done 10 years ago, 20 years ago and now I’m brave or crazy enough or something and we’re going to tackle it.”

The Australian Elordi is fresh off two high-profile roles in the aforementioned Saltburn co-starring with recent Golden Globe nominees Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike, and as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, in Sofia Coppola's Priscilla.

Jacob Elordi also has the upcoming film He Went That Way opposite Zachary Quinto and Oh, Canada with Uma Thurman and Richard Gere.
