The San Francisco 49ers were defeated in the NFC Conference Championship Game by the Los Angeles Rams, making this an important offseason. While the 49ers didn't have a first-round pick, they had a solid draft.

This will help them surround their established pieces with solid young players. There has been lots of drama with the 49ers this offseason as rumors swirl about Deebo Samuel. Samuel reportedly wants a trade, but it seems unlikely with no deal made on draft night.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has also been subject to trade rumors. Trey Lance is expected to take over. Lance was taken by San Francisco with the 3rd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has not seen a ton of time on the field but is a dual-threat QB. Lance has great talent, but he will likely go through growing pains in the NFL.

It seems unlikely that Lance will come out the gates firing, especially with the 49ers staff reportedly underwhelmed by him.

Lance's play, as well as the incoming rookies, will determine how far San Francisco can go. With that said, here are draft grades for every 49ers pick.

San Francisco 49ers 2022 NFL Draft Grades

2nd round, 61st overall pick: Defensive End Drake Jackson: A

With the 49ers' first selection in the draft, they took defensive end Drake Jackson. Jackson has good athleticism and is a solid pass rusher. He will be a good complement on the other side of superstar pass rusher Nick Bosa.

Jackson needs to improve his run defense but will still be an impactful player in his rookie campaign.

3rd round, 93rd overall pick: Running Back Tyrion Davis-Price: C

The 49ers' second selection in the draft was running back Tyrion Davis-Price. This pick was a reach, as Davis-Price was projected to go in the 4th or 5th round of the draft. It was also a shocker that San Francisco took a running back, as they selected Trey Sermon and Elijah Mitchell in last year's draft.

However, head coach Kyle Shanahan likes to have a committee of running backs, and Davis-Price can add to that. He is great at getting extra yardage and will be a solid running back for the 49ers.

3rd round, 105th overall pick: Wide Receiver Danny Gray: B+

With their second selection in the 3rd round, the 49ers took wide receiver Danny Gray. While Samuel wasn't traded, the 49ers went out and got Lance another weapon. Gray is a speedy receiver that can take the top off of the defense.

He fits Shanahan's scheme with the ability to make moves after the catch.

4th round, 134th overall pick: Offensive Lineman Spencer Burford: B+

In the 4th round, San Francisco drafted offensive lineman Spencer Burford. Burford is a versatile lineman that can play either guard or tackle. He has the quickness to make blocks on screens and run-pass options, making him an excellent fit in the 49ers' offense.

Burford will have an immediate impact on San Francisco's offense.

5th round, 172nd overall pick: Cornerback Samuel Womack: C+

The 49ers selected Samuel Womack in the 5th round of the draft, which was a bit of a reach. Womack was projected by some to go un-drafted, but San Francisco took him in the 5th round.

However, he could be a solid slot cornerback and contribute on special teams. His aggressiveness makes up for his size, and he will be a good addition to the team despite drafting him early.

6th round, 187th overall pick: Offensive Lineman Nick Zakelj: B

With the 49ers' first of three selections in the 6th round, they selected another offensive lineman in Nick Zakelj. Zakelj has all the physical tools to be an NFL-level tackle. He needs to focus on improving his technique but could contribute in the offensive line rotation this upcoming season.

6th round, 220th overall pick: Defensive Tackle Kalia Davis: A-

San Francisco added to their defensive line rotation by taking Kalia Davis. Davis is versatile and has shown flashes of greatness.

He needs to improve his consistency but could be a solid contributor for the 49ers.

6th round, 221st overall pick: Cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields: A-

With their last pick in the 6th round, San Francisco got cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields. Castro-Fields was a steal, as he was expected to be taken in the 4th round.

He has the size, length, and speed to be a very productive player at the next level. If he can get better in run support, Castro-Fields will be a very impactful player.

7th round, 262nd overall pick: Quarterback Brock Purdy: B

San Francisco's last pick in the draft was for a backup quarterback with Brock Purdy. Purdy is an accurate passer and could develop into a solid backup behind Lance.

The 49ers had an overall good draft, and these players will need to play well to help San Francisco make another deep playoff run.
