Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is emerging as one of the game's best pass-catchers in his second season.

His combination of size, speed, and improving skills can even seem cartoonish at times. In fact, one could say he's been “super effective.”

Perhaps then it's apt that the second-year wideout from Ole Miss turned to the world of animation when discussing his approach to scoring touchdowns — something he's done five times in the 2020 season and 13 in his young career (including one in the 2019 playoffs).

Metcalf wants to find the end zone even more, though, and he borrowed the iconic slogan from Pokemon to describe his quest.

“I believe catching a touchdown pass — they're like Pokemon, gotta have 'em all,” Metcalf explained to reporters on Thursday.

Metcalf's improvement has helped propel Russell Wilson to the front of the MVP conversation through six weeks. Metcalf has caught 22 passes for 496 yards, and his 99.2 yards per game ranks second in football, trailing only DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals. More importantly, the 22-year old is proving he can do far more than simply run in a straight line.

Seattle has rode their high-powered offense — led by Wilson and Metcalf — to a 5-0 record and currently sit atop the competitive NFC West. In Week 7, they'll look remain unbeaten against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Sunday Night Football.

Seattle may make a noteworthy addition to their PokeDex in the coming weeks (work with me here), as the team is reportedly eyeing free agent WR Antonio Brown, who is eligible to return from suspension in Week 9.
