Earl Thomas is finally showing up. The Seattle Seahawks safety is set to end his protracted holdout and plans to report to the team today, Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson of ESPN report.
Thomas also posted an announcement via his Instagram account.
“I worked my whole life for this….. I’ve never let me teammates, city or fans down as long as I’ve lived and don’t plan on starting this weekend. With that being said, the disrespect has been well noted and will not be forgotten. Father Time may have an undefeated record but best believe I plan on taking him into triple overtime when it comes to my career.”
Thomas, who is on the final year of his contract with Seattle, had sat out the entire offseason to date as he looked for an extension. However, the Seahawks have been unwilling to offer the All-Pro safety a new deal.
Thomas had made it clear that if the Seahawks weren't interested in extending him, he asked them to just trade him to a team that would give him the long-term deal he's looking for.
However, the Seahawks have rebuffed trade offers for Thomas, most notably from the Dallas Cowboys, who have been linked with the safety all offseason.
There was a sense that with the Seahawks unwilling to accommodate his demands, Thomas was willing to take his holdout into the regular season. But it seems that Thomas is now ready to play out the final year of his contract and simply depart in free agency next offseason.
